At BottleRock Napa Valley on May 26 2024, Ed Sheeran surprised the crowd by joining The Offspring on stage for their song “Million Miles Away.” He later called the moment “living out a childhood dream.”

The night had extra meaning for Sheeran—he revealed that the first album he ever bought was The Offspring’s Conspiracy of One, and that as a kid he used to mimic being in their band and singing along to that song. The fact that he showed a tattoo of their flaming-skull logo backstage gave the moment true fan-to-idol closure.

What made it special wasn’t just the surprise guest spot, but how genuine it felt: Sheeran, with his guitar, blending into a punk-rock band he admired growing up; The Offspring, welcoming him onto their turf. Fans got a slice of music-fan come full circle.
